Students at The Sage Colleges pursue bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees on campuses in Troy and Albany, NY, as well as online. Programs are available at the coeducational Sage College of Albany in New York’s capital city; the historic Russell Sage College for women in downtown Troy; the graduate-level Esteves School of Education, School of Health Sciences, and the School of Management, which operate on both campuses; and online through Russell Sage Online. Students participate in a learning environment that offers varied interdisciplinary academics, opportunities for community engagement, options to study abroad, and a range of artistic and athletic endeavors.

Susan C. Scrimshaw The Commencement, Sage’s 100th, marks the culmination of the College’s Centennial Celebration. In keeping with an academic tradition that college presidents address the last commencement of their tenure, The Sage Colleges President Susan C. Scrimshaw, Ph.D., who is stepping down June 30, will deliver the commencement address entitled “Lessons from Sage History.” “When I think about the past nine years, I am honored to have served a remarkable community of students, alumni, educators and staff. Sage has continued to pay homage to its rich and diverse history, while evolving its mission and academics,” said Scrimshaw. “I feel privileged to give the 2017 address and share in celebrating ‘our’ graduation with the class of 2017.” Sage is proud to recognize A. Alexandra Jupin and Frederick A. Miller as this year’s honorary degree recipients.

The Sage Colleges 2018 Commencement Ceremony
Cecile Richards, a national leader for women’s rights and social and economic justice, will address The Sage Colleges Class of 2018 and guests at Sage’s 101st Commencement on Sat., May 12, 2018. Her address to Sage graduates occurs shortly after her departure from Planned Parenthood and the release of her memoir, “Make Trouble: Standing Up, Speaking Out, and Finding the Courage to Lead,” for which she is touring with nationally. Christopher Ames, president of The Sage Colleges, will preside over the commencement ceremony, to be held at the Houston Field House on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus in Troy, and award an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service to Richards. Sage will confer approximately 885 degrees at its 2018 commencement, including bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, as well as post-baccalaureate and post-master’s certificates. The commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
