AMP 2.0 Northeast Regional Meeting

The Advanced Manufacturing Partnership (AMP) 2.0 is a national effort appointed by President Obama to secure U.S. leadership in emerging technologies that will create high-quality manufacturing jobs and enhance America’s global competitiveness. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and GlobalFoundries are proud to co-host the AMP 2.0 Regional Meeting on April 24, 2014. We invite all stakeholders in the manufacturing ecosystem in this region and beyond to participate in this meeting. Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson, President of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Ajit Manocha, an advisor to GlobalFoundries’ shareholder and until recently its CEO, both serve on the AMP 2.0 Steering Committee. President Obama has charged the Steering Committee with developing concrete plans for securing the nation’s competitive advantage in advanced manufacturing. This regional meeting, among several held or to be held around the country, is an important step in this process. It will engage the manufacturing community in New York and surrounding states on key issues that include transformative technologies, workforce development and government policies. Attendees will also assess the region’s strengths and challenges in bringing advanced manufacturing innovation to small- and medium-sized businesses. The information generated at this regional meeting will help to inform the AMP 2.0 Steering Committee to develop specific policy recommendations for President Obama later this year.
